Bespoke garden & kitchen support

My offerings are designed to challenge the supremacy of convenience and invite you to build connections with your ecosystem, sense of place, and seasonality.

I’m so happy to be able to support you and your family in creating a relationship with the world that is rooted in reverence, abundance, and curiosity.

All of my offerings are available to children as well as adults, and can be tailored to any experience level.

In light of the ongoing pandemic, my services are offered via phone or video call unless we both feel comfortable with an in-person meeting.

How we’ll work together

All of my offerings begin with a free 15-minute consultation. During this call, I’ll get a sense of your goals and budget in order to help you determine the most supportive package for your needs.

I offer my services in packages of increasing time — the basic help is one 1-hour session (by phone, zoom or in-person if applicable) along with a pdf that contains all the tips and resources I can offer.

packages start at $50

garden guidance

Whether you’re hoping to plant your first garden & don’t know where to start, looking to improve or maintain an established garden, or want to get your kids involved in garden planning or labor, I can help!

As an experienced garden educator and community garden coordinator, I specialize in sharing simple, low-cost garden designs and solutions. I believe that everyone has the innate ability to grow food, medicine, and other plants, and that some of us just need a little guidance to remember the way.

I’m especially experienced with making-do in small, unlikely garden scenarios, like above a train station on a very busy Brooklyn block or on a west-facing, sixth floor fire escape, so don’t let the perceived unsuitability of your space discourage you from sowing a little garden of your own. At the very least, you can grow a couple radishes and some flowers, and that little bit of magic goes a long way.

pantry perspective

Do you struggle to decide what to cook for dinner? Flounder at the grocery store or feel intimidated by the farmers market? Find yourself throwing out produce that got hidden in the crisper or ignored on the counter, again? Wish you could just make a fresh start on the way you shop, cook, and eat? Let’s do it together!

This offering provides a container to examine and re-imagine your approach to meal planning. I’ll provide advice, recipes, tutorials, and meal plans/shopping lists as needed. This can be as a one-time consultation or an ongoing coaching engagement depending on your budget and needs.

I am not a nutritionist and cannot provide medical advice, but I can help you find a new perspective on the way you stock your pantry and prepare meals.

harvest help

Whether from a generous CSA share or an unexpectedly good garden year, if you’re neck-deep in summer’s bounty and don’t know what to do with the abundance, let me help you ensure that none of it goes to waste!

I will provide in-depth recipes and tutorials for preserving throughout the season, plus in-person help if needed and possible. We will can, freeze, dry, and explore other creative preservation methods to process your harvest and leave you with pantry staples that will carry you through the depths of winter.

weed walk

If you’re itching to learn more about the plant kingdom but find that whenever you attempt a closer look, it all just blurs green, this is for you! We will go for a walk together in your yard, neighborhood, or a park/trail and work to identify as many of the plants (and birds and insects!) as we can, using basic botany and all of our senses. We’ll discuss plant lore, culinary and medical uses, and interact with as many plants as we can in an hour or so. After our walk I will email you a pdf containing mini monographs of the plants we met, plus some recipes & tips for using them in your kitchen or apothecary.

I’ve learned so much about the plant friends on my property thanks to our informal nature walks!
