fire cider is a spicy immune tonic traditionally made with horseradish, garlic, hot peppers, and other warming herbs infused in apple cider vinegar. this is a somewhat Caribbean inspired blend with broadleaf thyme, jalapeno, ginger, garlic, and calendula. broadleaf thyme is known by many names including tiki thyme, cuban oregano, and spanish oregano; it’s used for seasoning fish and sometimes curries, and is ubiquitous in my old brooklyn neighborhood as a houseplant whose voracious growth was counted on to block first-floor windows. like garden thyme and mint, broadleaf thyme is anti-infective and traditionally used for treating colds and fevers. its sweet herbaceousness provides a lovely balance to the spicy jalapeno and garlic in this fire cider.

ingredients: tiki thyme (from my houseplants!), garlic (winchester, ma), ginger (freedom food farm), jalapeno (kimballs fruit farm), turmeric (freedom food farm), calendula (winchester, ma), apple cider vinegar, and honey (beezy bees).

suggested use: take a dropperful or 30 drops in water or on tongue daily as a tonic; for acute support, take 30 drops 3x daily as needed.
